Sharing images with friends and family after a night out or trip may be time-consuming. However, you may effortlessly share photographs and videos with up to five other individuals using iCloud Shared Photo Library.
Anyone with access to the Shared Photo Library may add, modify, and delete content from it. You can upload images straight from your iPhone’s camera to the library, and you can add photos to the library when you’re in physical contact with individuals who have access to it.
However, you cannot join two shared libraries at the same time, and photographs moved from your library to the shared library are not copied and can only be found in the shared library.
Dynamic Island Live Activities and Lock Screen
Live Activities improve the Dynamic Island and lock screen on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. With Live Activities, your Dynamic Island and lock screen display notifications from third-party apps such as sports games and airline schedules.
Apple Fitness Plus in the absence of an Apple Watch

You no longer need an Apple Watch to use Apple Fitness Plus with iOS 16.1. You can track your exercise progress and objectives immediately from your phone if you have an iPhone 8 or later.
Updates to the battery display
iPhones from the XR onwards now have the option to show the battery % in the battery meter icon. The typeface used for the battery symbol has also been significantly enlarged to make it easier to read.
Updates to the wallpaper and lock screen
In iOS 16.1, Apple makes it a little easier to change your background. The ability to install a new wallpaper from the Settings > Wallpaper menu is now more visually distinct, and you may swipe through previous backgrounds. You’ll also have the ability to modify either your lock screen or your home screen when altering your wallpaper from the lock screen (instead of just the lock screen).
The UI of the screenshot editing tools has been modified.

When you use the editing menu to modify a screenshot, the delete, save, and copy choices are now presented at the top of your screen in a smaller, less invasive menu. These settings were formerly located at the bottom of your iPhone’s screen.
Upgrades to wallet apps
You may use Messages and WhatsApp to securely transmit the automobile, hotel room, and other Wallet app details. Customers with an Apple Card may also build their Daily Cash by depositing funds into a high-yield savings account. If you choose, you may remove the Wallet app from your iPhone.
Smart home connectivity via Matter
Matter, the new smart home connectivity standard, is now supported for smart home connectivity. That means you can use your iPhone to operate smart gadgets like Alexa and Google Assistant.
Clean Energy Charging Mode
In the Battery section of Settings, a new Clean Energy Charging option has been introduced. When you charge your iPhone, the setting may help you lessen your carbon impact. When Clean Energy Charging is enabled, your iPhone will charge only when reduced carbon emission power is available. This feature appears to be enabled by default, but you can disable it by navigating to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging and clicking the toggle next to Clean Energy Charging.
Upgraded Apple Books interface

When you access Apple Books if you read books on your iPhone, your reader controls will be hidden.
Corrections to bugs
Apple also fixed several problems. These updates solve issues like deleted conversations showing up in Messages, certain Dynamic Island content not showing up when using Reachability, and CarPlay not connecting when using a VPN app.
